Social Events...

In addition to our monthly meetings we also try to organise two parties per year, one in the summer and one in the New Year.

The New Year Party is held at Armitage Bridge Church and the summer party is held in the beautiful setting of Beaumont Park Visitor Centre.

A buffet is provided to which members either contribute a food item or donate towards the cost.

A formal programme is not produced for the parties but members tend to contribute lighter and more impromptu items and there are often community items for those that wish to join in.

25th September 2021, Our first event following the pandemic.

Social evening with music and buffet

We had a fabulous first meeting back after an extended break due to the coronavirus pandemic with a varied programme including the wind quartet playing lute pieces, vocal pieces, an organ piece, two piano piece, two recorder performances, a string quartet and finishing with Robert singing including the very entertaining Hard Hearted Hannah….

We were treated to a fabulous tea afterwards. A great start to our 2021-22 season!

Here is a short video of the wind quartet playing 'It was a Lover and his Lass'.

Our 2020 New Year party was a huge success with record number of around 50 members and guests attending.

An excellent selection of music was performed including vocal, woodwind and guitar groups and violin, flute, vocal and piano solos. Highlights of the afternoon were a costumed performance of the 'Cat Duet' and a massed choral item to finish the programme.

A delicious buffet was served following the music and after the buffet the string ensemble entertained us with some light music.

The 2019 summer party was again held at Beaumont Park visitor centre which has now become a regular venue for this event.

A wide range of music was performed including a wind quintet and vocal, clarinet and flute solos but the highlight of the afternoon was a massed woodwind and brass group which ended the musical entertainment with some themes from Grand Operas. This group had not rehearsed together previously and everyone enjoyed just being able to join in.

After the music a delicious buffet was served and there was time to talk in a social atmosphere with friends old and new.
